Directions for Doughnuts on Sticks

Cooking Tip

Dip into melted chocolate and wait for them to cool for an indulgent twist on the original recipe.

1. In a bowl, mix the flour, egg, baking powder and honey and stir well. Add 4 tbsp water and knead the dough into a ball. Set it aside for 10 minutes to rest.

2. Divide the dough into 6 or 7 even sized pieces. Roll them into a sausage about 7cm long, twist them a couple of times and then insert a pre-soaked bamboo skewer through the centre to act as a handle.

3. Heat the oil to around 130°C or near to smoking point and carefully fry the doughnuts in batches of three until golden brown (8 minutes or so).

4. Remove from the pan and dust their surfaces with caster sugar.
